Gentlemen’s’ top lips will be a little colder all across the North East this month as we put Movember behind us, charity facial hair disappears and we look forward to Christmas. Before we do though, we’d just like to take a moment to thank everyone who took part in our Movember campaign – we’ve been overwhelmed by the support from those posting or sharing photos, growing impressive moustaches and raising money for such and excellent cause.

We’d also like to say a big BIG congratulations to our competition winner, Kelvin Bedford, who gained an extraordinary 341 likes on his Movember photo and wins our Beats by Dre headphones. We hope you’ve got Now That’s What I Call Christmas downloaded and ready to listen to!

It’s been inspirational to see so many individuals and organisations raising awareness across the North East this year. Started in Melbourne, Australia, in 2003, Movember has become a global movement raising over £79.3million globally in 2011 alone. We can’t wait to see what the 2012 total is and we’ll keep you posted via Twitter and Facebook.

Though Movember comes but once a year and we all have a bit of fun, it’s important to not forget about men’s health for the other, less moustachioed 11 months. Funds raised by Movember campaigns go directly to Prostate Cancer UK and the Institute of Cancer Research to fund ongoing live-saving research, education and support programmes. Truly excellent, but funds are required all year round, so any fundraising or donations are always welcome – you can find out more on the Movember website. Even just a very small donation goes towards changing lives and fighting back against cancer – that’s something worth every penny.

We’d love to hear your Movember stories in the comments below. Maybe you have a photo or bad-moustache pun you’d like to post? Stay ‘tashtastic everyone!
